SE3D Wins SBIR Phase II Award

Santa Clara, CA, September 6, 2016 – SE3D, a company leading innovation in bioscience education and technology, announced today that it has been awarded the Small Business and Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The NSF SBIR grant is awSE3D logoarded to organizations who create innovative technology by transforming scientific discoveries into societal and economic benefit. SE3D received $726,272 in funding for the Phase II grant.

“We are extremely pleased to receive this funding. It demonstrates the continued support from the NSF to develop progressive STEM & NGSS compliant educational curriculums that stimulate interest and learning in bioscience” Said Dr. Mayasari Lim, CEO of SE3D said “In addition, funds from this grant will greatly impact product development of our patent pending 3D bioprinting hardware that enables students to experience hands-on lab applications in pharma, tissue and green technology”.

In 2015, SE3D received the first phase of NSF grant funding to design and construct 3D bioprinting technology for classroom and commercial applications. The r3bEL 3D bioprinter was introduced early this year and has been adopted by select schools across the country. The company is projecting substantial growth with the release of its companion curriculum in Q4 of this year.
