PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.―The National Future of Education Technology Conference (FETC) has announced that six Mega Sessions will be part of the program for the 39th annual event, set to take place in Orlando, Fla., from January 27-30, 2019. Mega Sessions will bring the conference’s most popular presenters and content to the keynote stage in South Hall A, providing any conference participant with the opportunity to attend and engage. These sessions will comprise one key part of the conference’s programming, which will feature more than 275 intensive workshops and 400 targeted sessions.

Register for FETC conference January 27 - 30, 2019“In 2019, we are excited to bring the first-ever Mega Sessions to FETC,” said Dr. Robert Avossa, Sr. Vice President & Publisher of LRP Publications. “One of the most important questions we must ask ourselves when planning a conference is, ‘Can our attendees access the speakers and content they most desire?’ By offering these sessions on the keynote stage, we will ensure they are opened up to larger groups of attendees, so nobody is denied the opportunity to hear our most popular presenters.”

Mega Sessions on Tuesday, January 29

Mega Sessions will begin on January 29 with presentations from in-demand speakers Kasey Bell, Leslie Fisher and Matt Miller. Participants will learn about new and free tools to use in the classroom tomorrow, find out how to amplify student voice through multimedia, and more:

  • Go BEYOND with Dynamic Learning―In this session, Shake Up Learning’s Kasey Bell will give an overview of the Dynamic Learning Model and Framework from her new book, Shake Up Learning: Practical Ideas to Move Learning from Static to Dynamic. Attendees will hear strategies to take learning beyond the bounds of the school walls, beyond subject and grade level, beyond digital tools as substitution, beyond the due date, and even beyond the school day.
  • Tools You Can Use Tomorrow―Leslie Fisher, who will also be one of four presenters in the conference’s TechSHARE LIVE! keynote, will introduce attendees to some top websites, apps and tools that can be used in the classroom―as soon as tomorrow. The session will also take a look ahead at some technology that might be part of classrooms in the near future.
  • The Voice: Encourage Student Voice with Podcasts, Video and More―Matt Miller of Ditch That Textbook will present this dynamic session, in which attendees can learn easy ways to use podcasts, video and other tools to give student work an audience and help them build speaking skills so they can go out and change the world.

Mega Sessions on Wednesday, January 30

The conference’s final day will feature Mega Sessions presented by Erin Klein, Michael Meechin and Steve Dembo. Educators will learn how to leverage flexible learning spaces, take a look at 60 different instructional technologies, and find out how school districts are rethinking education and enacting systemic change:

  • Personalize Instruction for All Learners and Create a Brain-Friendly Environment―In this session, national classroom design consultant and award-winning elementary teacher Erin Klein will demonstrate how to leverage flexible learning spaces to engage learners, while differentiating and personalizing instruction for all students. Attendees will hear about the fundamental elements of creating a space that is developmentally appropriate, personalized, brain-friendly and future ready.
  • Sixty in Sixty: 60 Instructional Technologies in 60 Minutes―Michael Meechin, principal of the NeoCity Academy, will present this fast-paced session with a look at 60 different instructional technologies for all educators to know.
  • Innovation Nation: Open the Curiosity Door―This session, presented by Teach42 CEO Steve Dembo, will explore how districts are rethinking education and enacting systemic, long-term change. Dembo will demonstrate meaningful ways to avoid falling into the trap of knee-jerk solutions that rarely push school systems forward and will provide concrete steps, from design thinking to strategic planning, to enact change.

FETC 2019 content will be presented in five updated program tracks: Future of EdTech Educator, Future of EdTech Administrator, Future of EdTech Information Technology, Future of EdTech Inclusion & Special Education and Future of EdTech Early Learning. In addition to the Startup Pavilion, FETC’s industry-leading expo will include an Early Learning Pavilion, Game Based Learning Pavilion and Hands-On Technology Lab. The conference’s new schedule will begin on a Sunday, allowing attendees to participate in professional development workshops without time away from their students.
