From The Washington Post: House Republicans want to give teachers a break
by Lyndsey Layton
Teachers who spend their own money on classroom supplies — most of the nation’s nearly 4 million K-12 teachers — would be eligible for a permanent tax credit of up to $250 annually for unreimbursed expenses, under a bill passed by the House Ways and Means committee on Thursday.

It’s too bad that such a bill was attached to a much larger assortment of tax cuts for multi-national corporations. Of the $412B that this package adds to the federal budget deficit, only $2.5B of it is from the $250 per teacher tax break. The rest? You guessed it…almost all of it is in corporate tax cuts. Talk about putting lipstick on a pig.
