MediaCore Raises $4.5M to Expand Video Learning
Today I’m pleased to announce that MediaCore has raised $4.5 million in Series A financing, led by Vanedge Capital.
Since I started MediaCore with Damien, Anthony and Nathan a little over 3 years ago, the company has really evolved — and I’m really excited to begin the next chapter in our story. Almost 18 months ago we announced our mission to transform how people teach and learn using video, and this funding will go a long way to implementing our vision for the product and scaling up our team.
In 2014 we experienced record growth which brought over 100 universities to MediaCore — including notable institutions like Yale, Brown, University of North Carolina and UC Berkeley. We’ve also been recognized as a leader in the video learning space — having recently been named as one of the Top 20 Learning Platforms of 2015 by the E-Learning 24/7 team, and one of the world’s Most Innovative Companies in Digital Video by Fast Company Magazine. Truly, it has been an honor not only to work with the most passionate educators and IT teams in education, but also to work with a team who is dedicated to serving them.
What has differentiated us tremendously over the past few years has been our understanding of pedagogy, the challenges in the educational IT landscape, and a focus on providing simple solutions to solve complex problems. Everything we do is underpinned by a real drive to provide a meaningful difference to educators, students and IT staff alike.
When it comes down to it, all of this wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for you (our customers) and your trust in us as a company, in our people, and in our product. As we look forwards to what we have in store for the next few years, I know we will continue to strive for product excellence, quality support, and in really understanding our customers’ needs.
This coming year I’ll be on the road a lot — and I’m very much looking forward to meeting as many of you as I possibly can.
